Rocio Garcia-Carbonero is a consultant in Medical Oncology at Hospital Universitario Doce de Octubre, where she leads the GI and NE Oncology Unit, and an Associate Professor at Universidad Complutense (UCM) in Madrid (Spain). She has been the chair of the Spanish National Cooperative Group of NETs (GETNE) (2011-2019) and is currently chair elect of ENETS, and ESMO Faculty Coordinator for NETs and Endocrine Tumors. She is actively involved in clinical and translational research, with a particular focus in the development of new drugs or therapeutic strategies in the field of GI and NE tumors. She has published over 200 articles in peer-review journals (H index 56) and has led several investigator-initiated research projects and clinical trials, including the AXINET phase 3 trial in extra-pancreatic G1-2 NETs and the NICE-NEC-trial in G3 NEN. She is also devoted to continued medical education in many ways; she has been a member of the ESMO Oncology PRO working group, has served as Chair of the ENETS Postgraduate Course in NETs for several years (2016-2021) and is the director of a GETNE-sponsored Master of Science Degree in NETs at UCM University.
