Oren Shibolet Prof Oren Shibolet is the Director of the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Tel Aviv Medical Center affiliated to Tel-Aviv University, Israel, and the Chairman of the Israeli Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (IASLD). He graduated from the School of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and specialised in internal medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. He undertook his postdoctoral fellowship in molecular biology at Massachusetts General Hospital (affiliated to Harvard Medical school), in Boston, USA. He later joined the faculty at Tel-Aviv Medical Center in 2011, as the Head of the Liver Unit. In 2016, he became a professor of internal Medicine at Tel-Aviv University and the Director of the Department of Gastroenterology. Professor Shibolet has a keen interest in basic and clinical science including novel treatments of liver diseases, with a particular focus on NAFLD, hepatocellular carcinoma, cholestatic liver diseases and drug induced liver injury. He runs an active basic science laboratory elucidating the mechanisms of drug induced lipotoxicity. He is the recipient of numerous awards and received multiple grants from national and international funding agencies in basic and clinical science. He is the author or co-author of over 140 articles in international peer-reviewed journals including the Annals of internal Medicine, Journal of Hepatology, Lancet and Gastroenterology.
