The annual conference of the American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI) will take place from June 20-23, 2024, at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia.
As the next 100 years of AATI begin, the conference seeks to align itself with the mission of AATI by strengthening its focus on the teaching and learning of Italian language, literature, and cultures. Thus, in keeping with the mission of the AATI, we encourage interdisciplinary approaches that are relevant and applicable to the teaching at the K-12 and college level. We invite interested presenters to submit proposals for complete sessions, roundtables, or individual presentations which prioritize the teaching and learning of Italian and Italian Studies; we especially encourage proposals directly related to the teaching and learning of the culture, language, and literary works. We also encourage papers focusing on aspects of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging in language pedagogy and/or Italian Studies.
Some possible areas of interest include the teaching, learning and integration of language, culture, intercultural competence, linguistics, literature, cinema and media studies, diversity, social justice, other disciplines such as sciences and art. For a more detailed list of possible topics, please see the AATI Conference website, as soon as it is live.
Eligibility and regulations: Participants can be involved in no more than 1 session as presenter, 1 round table and chair/moderate 1 session. There is a limit of 4 presenters per session and 8 presenters per roundtable. Please note that double/triple sessions (ex. Part I and Part II) will be considered but cannot be guaranteed acceptance and may require a change in format. Please be mindful of this as you create or accept abstracts for completed sessions.
