Prof. Yackov Berkun is the Head of the Immunology Unitand former Head of Pediatricsat theHadassah Mount Scopus Hebrew University Medical Centerin Jerusalem. He is a graduate of the Hebrew University School of Medicineandcompleted his residency training in Pediatrics at Bikur Cholim Hospital. He further specializedwith a fellowship in clinical immunology and allergy at Hadassah. He held several positions, including the head of Immunology and Allergy unit at Bikur Cholim Hospitaland senior physician at Rheumatology and FMF Clinic in the Safra Children's Hospital atSheba Medical Center, where he also served as the Deputy Director of the Safra Children's Hospital. He is an Associate Professor ofPediatrics at the Hebrew University, a member of variouscommittees of the Hadassah Medical Organization, and serves on theeditorial boardof the "Harefuah" the academic medical journalof the IsraeliMedical Association.Since2020,prof' Berkun is the General Secretary of Israeli Society of Pediatrics. Hehas long been involved with the Teaching and Award Committeesof the Hadassah-Hebrew University MedicalSchool, and has served on the Appeals Committee of the Israel Medical Association.

Since 2017 he has been a visiting professor atYerevan State Medical University in Armenia. Prof. Berkun has been recognized multiple times as an outstanding teacher by the Rector of the Hebrew University and the Dean of the Medical Faculty. He is a leading pediatric rheumatologist with a special interest in immunology, Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), and other auto-inflammatory diseases. His work has earned him recognition as one of Israel's top pediatric rheumatologists by *Forbes* magazine. Prof. Berkun has directed, published, and reviewed numerous studies in rheumatology, immunology, FMF,and related fields.List of publications
