NETSCI-X IS COMING TO TEL-AVIV

The central winter conference on Network Science, NetSci-X, is coming to the hub of innovation – Tel-Aviv. Bringing together leading researchers and innovators to connect, meet and establish interdisciplinary channels for collaboration. From biological and environmental networks, to social, technological and economic networks, NetSci-X 2017 links the vibrant Tel-Aviv spirit with the fresh outlook of Network Science.

Conference - NetSci-X-2017 will be held on January 16-18, 2017 at Hilton Tel-Aviv.

School – The conference will be preceded by a one day School - January 15, 2017 at the Porter hall, Tel-Aviv University.

Travel Scholarships
NetSci-X 2017 offers a limited number of scholarships in the form of reduced/waived registration fees to support participants on the basis of financial aid. Preference will be given to young researchers from developing countries. The number of scholarships and the level of discounts will be determined by the availability of funds.  

To apply, please send an email to the scholarship committee: netsci-x@thinkcontent.co.il, and include a brief letter of justification for the committee to review, by Dec 2, 2016. The committee will make every effort, within the collected funds, to accommodate as many requests as possible. Notifications will be sent back to the applicants by Dec 9, 2016.

NetSci-X 2017 accepts two types of submissions: abstracts and full-papers (proceedings). You will be prompted to select the relevant type during the submission process.

For each type of submission we offer several presentation formats for accepted contributions:

• Oral presentation - presenting a contributed talk in one of the parallel sessions.
• Ignite - This format is for the bold. You get a 5 minute plenary presentation, with 20 pre-submitted PDF slides that switch automatically every 15 seconds. The Ignite session is typically a highlight and will get you significant exposure. Only a select number of contributions will be offered this presentation format.
• Poster presentation - Posters will be available in the main conference space throughout the entire event. We plan to put a strong emphasis on promoting the posters, e.g., through targeted emails, to gain them maximum visibility.

Before submitting your abstract/full-paper, please make sure you have:

• Up to 350 words abstract (both tracks)
• An image to demonstrate your abstract (both tracks)
• Full-paper, up to eight pages in PDF format (proceedings track only). Instructions for full paper submission.

Cosmic Web

The concept of the cosmic web—viewing the universe as a set of discrete galaxies held together by gravity—is deeply ingrained in cosmology. Yet, little is known about architecture of this network or its characteristics. Our research used data from 24,000 galaxies to construct multiple models of the cosmic web, offering complex blueprints for how galaxies fit together. These interactive visualizations help us imagine the cosmic web, show us differences between the models, and give us insight into the fundamental structure of the universe.

The White City
The White City, the world's largest collection of bauhaus architecture represents Tel-Aviv's hype streets of coffee shops, galleries and pubs in a unique urban UNESCO world heritage site. The White City is located between Allenby Street in the south, Begin Road and Ibn Gvirol Street in the east, the Yarkon River in the north, and the Mediterranean Sea in the west.

Magical Jaffa
Visit old Jaffa, with its narrow alleys of artists' quarters, studios and art galleries, riddled with romantic paths and gardens overlooking the sea.

General Information

Official Language
The official language of the conference is English.

Dress code
Informal for all occasions, Please bring sunglasses and walking shoes.

Climate
The weather in Tel Aviv in January is generally comfortable, with an average temperature of 9-18°C (48-65 F) and low chance of rain.

Currency
The New Israeli Shekel (NIS) is the official national currency. All the major credit cards are accepted in Israel in places displaying the emblem at the entrance.

Flying to Israel
There are regular flights to Israel from all major international capitals and from other cities too. All flights land at Israel's main airport, the Ben-Gurion International Airport in Tel-Aviv.
Israel's national airline is El-Al, which offers excellent service.
Other airlines may have cheaper flights.

Airport Information & Travel to Tel Aviv
Ben Gurion International Airport is served by many daily direct flights from most destinations. The International airport is 20-30 minutes from the city of Tel Aviv and private taxis are available 24 hours a day, as well as a regular train service. Approximate cost is NIS160 ($40) per taxi to the city center.
You can also take a train to the "Tel Aviv-Savidor Center" station and from there take a taxi to the hotel.

Passports and Visas
Most nationals do not require an entry visa for Israel. Participants are requested to consult the Israeli Embassy or Consulate in their home country or with their travel agency for specific details relating to visa requirements. It is the responsibility of the participant to obtain a visa if required.
We would be happy to provide a formal invitation letter, if needed.
Travelers who do not wish for an Israeli stamp to appear in their passports (to avoid unpleasantness if intending to visit countries lacking good relations with Israel) should inform the immigration clerks.

The conference Secretariat and organizers cannot accept responsibility whatsoever for injury or damage involving persons and property during the meeting. Participants are advised to make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.
